Situated in the heart of Little Italy, Jean Talon Market is one of the oldest public markets in Montréal. Inaugurated in May 1933. This place is equivalent to the Filipino "mercado", where it is okay to haggle for fair prices. Any who loves a good bargain would enjoy visit this place. Prices here usually are cheaper than the traditional grocery stores we tend to buy our food. From fresh tomatoes of sometimes half the prices to traditional weaved baskets and bags. You could spend hours in a maze of stores. If you are into artisanal stuff. This would be a perfect place too. At the time of visit (September 2020), there was handmade soaps, candles, fruit jams, and even alcoholic beverages. Who does not like an artisanal blueberry beer. So the next time so are feeling home sick, visit the nearest farmers market in your area. It is the best place to learn the local people and culture. It's also a great place to people watch. You'll quickly learn Montreal is a diverse community. Very fun to watch, with your beer on one hand and a savory crepes on the other. Ready to visit? The address is 7070 Henri Julien Ave, Montreal, Quebec H2S 3S3. Do not forget to bring your face masks, hand sanitizers and reusable bags. Go forth and shop! What more? My personal favorite, is Marché Atwater. This beautiful art-deco style is open year-round and its enthusiastic and experienced producers and merchants offer fresh and locally grown or processed foods. It's not to be missed. "Not being creepy. It's fun to people watch." Hurry visit this place now before fall or winter as the food stalls are offering south-east asian inspired cuisines. They usually change stalls as the season changes. I would suggest getting my favorite Singaporean dish, Laksa soup. A coconut-based soup. Perfect for the "getting-cold" weather. Oh also, did I mention Marché Atwater is also close to the river. Wonderful place to sit nearby and watch people going by their lives as you enjoy your big bowl of Laksa.
